Invitations
First, you need to decide on the date, and then pick out or make invitations. Stamp cards with a stamp that goes with the holiday, such as a large wreath for Christmas, a pumpkin for Halloween. Other holiday-inspired stamps are available online or at your local craft store. Or, design a holiday baby shower invitation using readily-available software, which is often free if you go to the websites of the major card makers, such as Avery. If you think you don't have a creative bone in your body, don't worry. A variety of holiday invitations for any type of event can be found online. If you cannot find one you like, just use a standard holiday card and adapt for use as your invitation.
Decorations
For a Christmas baby shower, a tree or wreath decorated with rattles, teethers and other baby items is a lot of fun and very easy. As for table decorations, poinsettias are a quick centerpiece. Miniature Christmas trees or wreaths could be decorated with miniature rattles, similar to the standard-size tree. For a Halloween shower, pumpkins can be carved to look like typical baby items and set around the room or used as the main table decoration. Sprinkle Halloween confetti on the table. Valentine's Day decorations might include heart confetti, a vase filled with pink and red candy in place of the water, and with red, white and pink silk flowers stuck into the candy. Easter or spring holiday decorations are readily available. Use bunnies of all kinds: chocolate, ceramic, stuffed, plastic as table decorations and party favors. Large Easter eggs filled with baby items, like socks, can be part of an egg hunt.
Party Favors
Halloween baby shower can have small personalized pumpkin candles, a small plastic jack-o-lantern filled with candy corn or other candy, while Christmas favors can be small stockings filled with goodies. The stockings could even be personalized with guests' names. Valentine's Day party favor options are chocolate hearts or even personalized chocolate bars. Small Easter baskets filled with jelly beans or other surprises make delightful favors at an Easter-themed shower.
Food
Cakes and cookies can be made in any shape to fit the holiday theme of your choice. Other food ideas include finger sandwiches can also be cut out using the cookie cutters. Use the holiday colors in your food choices and the food will be part of the decor, as well. Beverages for a Christmas shower could be simply hot chocolate or hot apple cider. Easter-themed food can be anything yellow or with eggs, such as egg salad sandwiches cut into the shape of an egg or a bunny. Beverages can be typical party punch served in a holiday mug. Use your imagination and you will come up with other great food ideas.
The key to a successful holiday-themed baby shower is planning. With good planning and organization, as well as a bit of imagination, your event will make the new parents a very happy memory.
